Perhaps it's lacklustre renditions of I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and R U Mine? that are at fault. Yet, truth be told, the encore lacks a little punch. Matt Helder's drums and Jamie Cook's lead guitar are given greater licence to assert themselves on a blissful version of Mardy Bum. The fading light also sharpens a deliberately fuzzy and stylised presentation of the band on large screens either side of the stage. The intensity of the songs heightens as dusk turns to darkness.

Why'd You Always Call Me When You're High and Arabella spark mass singalongs, much like every other track lifted from AM suggesting the group's never-tiresome fifth LP might just be this appreciative crowd's favourite.Īrabella has Turner in full theatrical mode its glam rock stomp dispersing momentarily into Black Sabbath riffs before quite seamlessly moving into My Propeller, a personal fave of mine.
